Deep Drawn Cleaning
Are You a Manufacturer of Deep Drawn Metal Stampings Facing These Issues?
Complex parts geometry, surface lubricity, frequent cleaning bath replacement, parts staining/corrosion, scale formation and wastewater treatment issues – these are the problems we solve on a regular basis for manufacturers. Not sure if you need solvent or aqueous chemistry? Want to reduce the steps in your process to save money on chemical consumption? Then you need to partner with a partner who has a diverse product offering and mission to optimize your process.

Complex Parts Geometry
Hubbard-Hall is the only chemistry supplier who can offer you both solvent and aqueous chemistries, based on a few factors such as: process, equipment in place and desired final outcome.
Frequent Cleaning Bath Replacement
This occurs when lubricants over saturate the cleaning baths, chelators tie up the cleaning chemistry instead of reducing metal contamination, or phosphate-based/citric acid passivators interfere with waste treatment operations.
Parts Staining/Corrosion
If you are experiencing staining/corrosion on your parts after the forming lube has been cleaned off, it may be caused by amine compounds in water emulsifiable lubricants. These compounds have a high pH and can react with soft metals, resulting in oxidation and staining. Although the compounds contain inhibitors, there are limits to their effectiveness.
Scale Formation
Conventional chemistries such as silicated cleaners have several advantages – safe for all metals, powder or liquid formulas, and are inexpensive. However, you cannot use them with certain washers, as they can leave an undesirable film, cause scale formation, and are high sludging.
Wastewater Treatment or Haul-off Issues
Treating the wastewater or hauling away the sludge keeps you in business but doesn’t contribute to your bottom line. Choosing the right chemistry upstream for your cleaning process:
-
Reduces wastewater costs (haul off, overhead and from fines) and keeps operations in compliance
-
Reduces frequent dumping of the cleaning bath, which puts less strain on your wastewater treatment operations
-
Reduces sludge generation by treating waste at the source
Did You Know?
- Chemistries can clean and brighten in one step
- Membrane technology can reclaim up to 98% of a cleaner bath
- A cleaning consult could eliminate the need for expensive equipment upgrades
Cleaning is more than picking a chemistry.
The type of alloy and soils, cleanliness and throughput requirements, waste handling, and cost all need to be considered.
